THE DOCKING OF GLOBAL MISSION ORGANIZATIONS OR NETWORKS WHICH WANT TO ENTER INTO RELATIONSHIP WITH THE MISSION COMMISSION
Docking guidelines
The Mission Commission will invite and/or welcome other mission entities to “dock” with the MC Task Forces or Networks based on the following guidelines:
1. The MC GLC sees the relevance, integrity, value, leadership governance of these mission bodies and senses the Spirit’s direction to engage in a dialogue of relationship.
2. The new relationship affirms evident value-added to both them and the MC
3. These new groups demonstrate deep commitment to cross-cultural mission
4. These groups purposefully serve the regional and national missionary movements as well as the key networks that are part of the MC.
5. These groups are committed to transparency in funding and governance
6. Every third year the ExCo will evaluate the relational renewal between the two bodies.
7. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will guide the participation of an entity within the MC. It sets the foundation for the ‘rules of engagement’ including a discussion of resource sharing. This agreement intends to give freedom for partners to fully enjoy and explore potential of the MC environment and contains details about the partnership and engagement expectations
The MC accomplishes its vision and purpose as we:
1. Create a missional arena and a forum that facilitates and encourages mutual learning, networking and cooperation between national and international mission leaders in all related missional bodies.
2. Provide a consultative and self-evaluative function for mission movements and networks, international agencies and missionary training centers to measure their health and stimulate their effectiveness.
3. Manage an “issues driven process” (needs assessment and research) that is intentional, lading to specified outcomes (services and training, networks and publications).
4. Facilitate the flow of resources between people, movements and nations (financial, human, bibliographical and other) through a well defined system and process.
5. Create and manage systems for the dissemination of information (based on a discussion of strategic technologies and media).
6. Provide a prophetic and proactive voice into the worldwide church in relation to theology, missiology and mission practice, through strategic consultations, training seminars, publications and other initiatives.
In order to understand each other, please respond to the following 6 questions. This will help both the MC and your ministry to know how best we can together serve the global mission community and our respective constituencies.
1. What current relationship do you have with national and regional mission movements?
2. What kind of a protocol for self-evaluation do you have or are you developing one?
3. What kind of an assessment have you made already that provides insight on the available resources and needs for your ministry?
4. What resources and information might you provide to the MC community?
5. In what way might the MC community play a role in publications or consultations and events that you convene?
Matters of accountability:
The MC does respect the full autonomy of your organization / network. At the same time we appreciate your participation to work within the policy and guidelines established by the Global Leadership Council of the MC.
Criteria for involvement:
1. The leader of your organization or network joins the MC constituency by becoming an Associate of the Mission Commission (MCA)
2. The MCA attends key MC events and consultations.
3. You create awareness about the journal of the MC, Connections, within your own network. At a frequent basis you will be asked to write a report about developments in your organization or network which will appear in Connections.

5. You contribute annually as MCA and docked organization / network which can be one of the following: US$ 30 – US$ 100 – US$ 250 – US$ 500 or more. The Memorandum of Understanding will include this amount.
Docking process:
1. In your correspondence with the Executive Director feel free to ask clarification with any items related to this docking process.
2. After you send your application will pass this to the ExCo for their information and the E.D. will work with your leadership team to craft the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
3. The ExCo will discuss the Memorandum of Understanding and the E.D. will report back to you.
4. After approval and making your first annual contribution you will be introduced to the MC network.
Release from the docking relation:
Termination might take place due to the following reasons:
1. As requested by the docked entity
