International
WEA is made up of 7 Regional and 127 National Evangelical Alliances, along with 104 international Christian organizations and 6 specialized Commissions. Having been connected with 66% of the world’s countries, WEA is in a unique position to leverage impact for the cause of Christ through collaboration and to bring the voice of Evangelicals onto the global stage.

WEA Capacity Building
WEA is initiating a capacity building project, which will strengthen its infrastructure through better communication within its network. Additional investment at this critical point in organizational re-growth will help further the mission of WEA, in fostering Christian unity among its diverse component parts for greater influence through collaboration.

Developing Evangelical  Approach to Political/Civic Engagement img

Developing Evangelical Approach to Political/Civic Engagement
WEA plans to take the lead in a four-year process in which National Evangelical Alliances worldwide are helped to engage in a national process to develop for their own country, a widely agreed upon document on “ A Framework for Evangelical Political (or Civic) Engagement.” Dr. Ron Sider, president of Evangelicals for Social Actions, will chair the International Steering Committee.

Amazing Grace Resource
In partnership with the Walden Media Corporation, WEA will produce and distribute training and advocacy resources to accompany the release of the William Wilberforce movie, “Amazing Grace”. These resources serve to inform, educate and suggest ways for Christians to engage in responsible social actions to address human trafficking of women and children today.

Human Trafficking Campaign
This WEA initiative will partner with the “Stop the Traffik” campaign based in UK. The goal of this project is to bring to light the reality surrounding the issue of human trafficking, and to mobilize the WEA network as an instrument for influence in world governments and institutions.

Micah Challenge Campaign img

Micah Challenge Campaign
WEA launched this initiative in partnership with the Micah Network to deepen evangelicals’ engagement to eliminate global poverty and to hold our governments accountable to the Millennium Development Goals- to reduce absolute global poverty by 2015. The program is expected to be active in 40 countries by 2007.

International Day for the Persecuted Church img

International Day for the Persecuted Church
Every 3rd Sunday in November, churches worldwide participate in the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP). Over 200,000 churches in 130 countries participated in 2005. WEA is encouraging more churches to participate in IDOP 2006 to seek prayerfully, the protection of Christians who are persecuted, oppressed and marginalized worldwide.

Expanding Evangelical Voice at the United Nations
WEA has 7 years experience with the United Nations. In addition to interacting with the new Human Rights Council, WEA will convene 30 evangelical leaders from around the world to the UN in October 2006, for the purpose of addressing Christian response to global poverty.

UN Human Rights Council Representation
WEA needs to build stronger representation for evangelical Christians in the newly created United Nations Human Rights Council (formerly UN Commission for Human Rights).  WEA Religious Liberty Commission continues to be a strong advocate for Christians who are persecuted, oppressed and marginalized.

Asia
Asia is experiencing growth in the number of evangelical Christians as well as increase in the number of cases where Christians are persecuted for their faith. Uniting churches for dynamic action toward the expansion of the Gospel and the protection of believers is now vital.

Indonesia Harmony Forum Training
Funding for this project will help equip Christian leaders in Indonesia to become influential representatives at the new Inter-Religious Harmony Forum, where church building permits are decided and harmonious inter-religious relations is encouraged. 2,000 Christian representatives for the forum will be trained initially at provincial and district levels.

Hambantota Housing Reconstruction Program

Hambantota Housing Reconstruction Program
Heavy rainfall in December 06 and early January 07 has caused a water reservoir in Hambantota region of Sri Lanka to flood the nearby villages. The flood forced over 2700 individuals and 200 families to flee their homes. The relief and development arm of the National Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka will take part in reconstructing 67 homes of the poorest families in the area. These houses will be built to the government standard of 380 square feet with a room, a living room, and a kitchen with chimney and a toilet.

Batticaloa Housing Reconstruction Program
The consequences of the 2004 tsunami continues to linger in many parts of South and Southeast Asia, including Sri Lanka’s Northeast region along the costal belt. More than 30,000 Sri Lankans were confirmed dead, while 5,600 are still missing. The relief and development arm of the National Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka will take part in reconstructing 10 homes of widows who lost their husbands to the tsunami. The houses will be built to government standard.

Asia Pacific Consultation for Theological Educators on HIV & AIDs
The project will equip 70 influential theological educators from the Asia-Pacific region to facilitate holistic responses to and reduce stigma and discrimination against those affected and infected by HIV and AIDS. Participants will then introduce courses in key theological institutions on HIV and AIDS for the next generation of pastors.

Caribbean
With 11 National Evangelical Alliance in its regional network, Evangelical Association of Caribbean exists to unite evangelical Christians in the Caribbean, giving them a regional identity, voice and platform to extend the Kingdom of God through Christ-centered proclamation of the Gospel.
Transforming the Nation Seminars img

Transforming the Nation Seminars
Funding for this project will help run seminars that challenge evangelical leaders to develop leadership skills to complement their theological and exegetical skills.  The seminars will also help National Alliances build capacity by providing conceptual tools of action planning, mission and vision development, organization of ministry, and ministry leadership philosophy.

Youth Sexual Survey
Funding for this program will help evangelical Christian congregations to properly guard against diseases, to reduce stigmatization of persons living with HIV/AIDS and to develop adequate disciplining mechanism that enable youths to handle their sexuality within a clear understanding of Biblical teaching and culturally appropriate methodology.

Africa
African Evangelical Alliance currently has over 29 National Evangelical Alliances. Increasing influence by Islam in Northern regions of Africa presents both challenges and also opportunities for the Christians in the area. There is also a critical need to revitalize the network of National Evangelical Alliances to empower the churches to transform their communities for Christ.

Sudanese Evangelical Alliance (SEA)
In March of 2006, Sudanese Strategic Leadership Consultation brought together Christian leaders from all major denominations in Khartoum and Southern Sudan regions. Five key ministry areas for the SEA focus were established – Economic empowerment, Evangelism and Discipleship, Education and Training, Health and Sanitation, and Counseling and Rehabilitation. SEA needs funding to develop strategic plan of action to engage in each of these areas.

Building National Mission Movements in Francophone Africa

Europe & Middle East
European Evangelical Alliance (EEA) is made up of 34 National Evangelical Alliances. EEA’s definition of Europe is a geographical one that includes all the EU Member States, the whole of the European Economic Area, and a large part of the Former Soviet Union. EEA membership now also includes Israel and Kazakhstan. Given the diverse scope of influence of the EEA, the potential to bring together the component parts for the one cause of Christ is unlimited!

Brussels Representative
The EEA representative in Brussels, Belgium will be a voice and a resource for the evangelical Christians to the EU institutions.  Brussels representative will monitor EU legislation and mobilize networks of Christian politicians and EEA membership to influence legislation in line with Gospel based values. Coordinated response at national and EU level is expected for greatest impact.

Consultation of Christians in Israel and Palestine img

Consultation of Christians in Israel and Palestine
Following an unprecedented meeting in January 2006 of evangelical leaders from Egypt, Israel and Palestine, WEA plans to further dialogue between Christian leaders from these countries by holding an International Council/ International Leadership Team meeting in Israel and Palestine this December 2006. Desired results will be to raise awareness of realities Christians in the Middle East are facing today, and to strengthen leaders’ commitment to impact the region through partnerships.
