WEA Welcomes CCK as its Newest National Alliance
The WEA (World Evangelical Alliance) welcomed the CCK (Christian Council of Korea) as one of its national alliances on Dec. 12, creating an official partnership between the two bodies. 

WEA welcomes the new Executive Director of IT Commission
On November 19, the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) welcomed Nathanael Tran as the new Executive Director of the Information Technology Commission (ITC) following the official endorsement of the International Council (IC) of WEA. 

Religious Cartoons & Sermons on Homosexual Practice - Global Trends, Concerns and Recommendations Regarding Freedom of Speech & Religion - by Mats Tunehag, President of the Swedish Evangelical Alliance
The discussions are many and the number of controversies increases regarding the freedoms of speech and religion in Europe and beyond. Should the press be allowed to publish cartoons that may be offensive to Muslims? Should shop keepers refrain from saying “Merry Christmas”? Is it hate speech to express that practiced homosexuality is a sin according to the Bible? Should we allow minarets to be built in Western Europe? The list can be made longer.

Climate agreement ‘missing vital sign post,’ says World Evangelical Alliance
The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) has welcomed the landmark global agreement on climate change struck at the UN Climate Change Conference in Bali, Indonesia on Saturday, but warned that its success may be jeopardized if world governments fail to agree firm targets for reducing emissions by the time of the next major gathering in 2009.

Turkey: Turkish nationalism threatens Christians
This posting aims to give some degree of understanding the phenomenon of Turkish nationalism, its relationship to the persecution of Christians and the immense difficulties facing those hoping to secure justice and security for Christians through the Malatya murder trial. Turkey has only around 100,000 Christians left, making up less than one percent of the population.

Indonesia: Christians Pressurised from West to East
Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim nation. Whilst Indonesian Muslims have traditionally been nominal, cultural, progressive Muslims, Islamic fundamentalism is growing, sponsored over recent decades by foreign states and pan-Islamic organisations. From west to east, Christians are coming under increased pressure.

China: Repression escalates in the lead-up to Olympics plus Turkey: Critical update
The Olympic Games will open in Beijing at 8.08pm, on 8-8-08 and China is getting ready. In a recent article, 'Faster, higher, censored', Graeme Philipson (The Age, Melbourne) states: 'China will use the 2008 Olympic Games to market itself to the world. All countries do this, but the Chinese example will look more like Berlin 1936 than Sydney 2000.'
