The Head of the Orthodox Church Meets with Evangelical Theologians: The WEA Expresses Solidarity with the Oppressed Patriarch
The German theologian and sociologist Thomas Schirrmacher represented the World Evangelical Alliance in a recent meeting with Bartholomew I, Patriarch of Constantinople and Head of the Orthodox Church. Schirrmacher brought the greetings of WEA International Director Geoff Tunnicliffe and assured the Patriarch of the continued public support of evangelical Christians in light of the long term persecuted condition of the Patriarch and his church.

End Violent Oppression in Burma (Myanmar)
The people of Burma have been ruthlessly oppressed and murdered by the SPDC for decades while the world has turned their eyes from this diabolical violence, and in so doing, submerged their conscience. The world is now looking Burma squarely in the eyes, and the time for change is now. View the full article to find out how you can help.

Religious Liberty:
Pakistan: War and unprecedented persecution in NWFP
Persecution of Christians has long been intense right across Pakistan's highly Islamised and Talibanised North West Frontier Province (NWFP). However Islamic zeal, tension, intolerance and belligerence has escalated dramatically over recent years as the Pakistan Army has been engaged in an unpopular war against Taliban and al-Qaeda forces in the Federally-Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) bordering Afghanistan.

IDOP 2007: Prayer Updates
Countries featured:  Azerbaijan, Bosnia, Egypt, Lebanon, Maldives, Pakistan, Sudan and Turkey.  See full article for details.

Turkey: Disinformation Endangers Christians
On 18 April 2007 Turkish convert Christians Necati Aydin and Ugur Yuksel and a German Christian, Tilmann Geske, were tortured and murdered in the Zirve Publishing House in Malatya, southern Turkey.  They had not realised that two young Turkish Muslims who appeared to be showing an interest in the gospel were actually part of a group plotting their assassination.

India: Desperately Needing Divine Intervention, plus updates
India, which is around 80 percent Hindu and 12 percent Muslim, has a population of more than one billion of whom some 25 million (2.4 percent) are Christian. The Indian Church is ancient and traditional, dating back to the first century and the Apostle Thomas. It is also new and dynamic with an indigenous missionary movement emerging in the 1960s such that India is now second only to USA as a missionary-sending nation.

Iraq: Iraq's Mandaeans "Desperate for help"
The Quran groups together "Believers, Jews, Christians and Sabians" (or Sabaeans, also known as Mandaeans) as those who believe in God and the Last Day and do what is right (Sura 2:62 and 5:69). Despite that, Shi'ite clerics in Iraq have issued fatwas against the Mandaeans, deeming they are not "People of the Book"….

Bosnia: The Looming Storm
Bosnia is supposed to be enacting constitutional reforms aimed at transitioning the state to European Union (EU) membership from the stabilisation brought by the Dayton Accords. The Dayton Accords, which ended the 1992-1995 Bosnian conflict, upheld the territorial sovereignty of the independent state of Bosnia while dividing it into two largely-autonomous entities: the Muslim-Croat Federation and the Republika Srpska (Serb Republic).

Sudan: Jihad a tradition not stopped by peace agreements
On Saturday 17 November Sudan's President Omar Hassan al-Bashir addressed a rally organised by Sudan's Popular Defence Forces (PDF) to celebrate their 18th anniversary. The PDF, which is known for its atrocities, was created in
1989 as a government paramilitary to fight alongside the Sudan Armed Forces in the jihad against the Southerners.

Transforming Ecumenism? The Global Christian Forum by Dr. David Parker, for Christian Today Australia
History was made at a conference held outside Nairobi, Kenya Nov 6-9, 2007, according to people who were in the know. The 250 church leaders were present from more than 70 countries and dozens of churches and organisations ranging from African Instituted Churches and Pentecostals all the way through Protestant and Anglican to Roman Catholic and various groups of Orthodox. They represented some of the newest Christians in the world, some of the most remote and those stretching all the way back to near biblical lands who still use the language of Jesus Christ.

Palestinian Territories:
The Armor of God and Peace-Making
I recently received an email from a Christian group that was urging all believers to speak out against the upcoming peace summit to be held in Annapolis in the United States of America. While it is natural to have a healthy dose of skepticism with regards to all political maneuvering, and easy to see how some would be unconvinced that this meeting will lead to true and lasting peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians, its seems odd to me that Christians would be against it altogether.
